After co-directing the shock motion sensation John Wick and doubling down as solo director of the impeccable sequel John Wick 2, Chad Stahelski is poised to launch a brand new franchise for Studio eight. Deadline stories that Stahelski has been tapped to direct an adaptation of Sandman Slim, the acclaimed fantasy guide collection by NYT bestselling writer Richard Kadrey.
Studio eight acquired the rights again in 2016, eyeing the nine-book collection as a doable movie franchise and What Occurred to Monday co-writer Kerry Williamson is ready to put in writing the most recent draft of the script. Kel Symons wrote a earlier draft.
The story follows James “Sandman Silm” Stark, who Deadline describes as a “fast-talking, hard-boiled, supernatural vigilante” who escapes from hell to take revenge on the individuals who killed his girlfriend and the members of a magic circle who received him despatched to hell within the first place… and after years of battling demons as a gladiator in hell, he packs a hell of a punch. So mainly, this feels like John Wick however with demons, vampires, and magicians, and that’s highkey my shit. Can’t even play cool about it.
Nevertheless, that’s not sufficient to get your consideration the official Harper Collins web page describes Sandman Slim as “a spellbinding, utterly remarkable tale of a vengeful magician/hitman’s return from hell is part H.P. Lovecraft, part Christopher Moore, part Jim Butcher, and totally, unabashedly dark, twisted, and hilarious.” And, William Gibson described it as a “dirty-ass masterpiece,” so if that’s not sufficient to get your consideration, I don’t assume we’re in search of the identical factor in a film.
Stahelski can be set to return for Lionsgate’s third John Wick film, which is scheduled to reach in theaters on Could 17, 2019 and can direct the pilot episode for Starz’s upcoming Wick spinoff collection, The Continental.Related youtube video: (not from post)
