Deadline reported on Wednesday that 20th Century Fox has been taking steps towards creating a remake of the 1980 comedy 9 to five, and sources say the studio has been courting Rashida Jones to co-write the script together with creator Pat Resnick.
What’s extra, the unique stars of the movie—Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin—are reportedly recreation to reprise their roles.
In response to Deadline, this new incarnation of the movie would “focus on three young women dealing with sexism and chauvinism in the workplace, who turn to the original trio for help in navigating and getting even with the coarse male higher-ups.” And the studio believes Jones is simply the individual to “make the concept relevant to a young comedy audience.”
Which shouldn’t be so tough, seeing as 9 to five is already beloved and most younger persons are already discussing sexual harassment within the office ceaselessly and brazenly. The thought that this phenomenon must be “made relevant” is probably the most dated factor concerning the mission, however I’m not fully withholding my pleasure—it’s far too early for that and, apart from, Dolly Parton is concerned.Related youtube video: (not from post)
