Tessa Thompson will depict Doris Payne in break-in movie
Variety reports that Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson will depict a real-life fashion jewelry burglar whose criminal offenses stem back to the 1950 s. Thompson is set to play Doris Payne, a lady who “gained notoriety for her luxury jewelry heists from stores around the world” in an approaching break-in movie that is yet to be called. Codeblack Films, which becomes part of Lionsgate, have actually gotten Payne’s life rights which motivated them to establish the movie. Thompson will produce the movie together with Codeblack’s Jeff Clanagan and Candice Wilson managing the task.
An intriguing bit Variety notes is that the movie will remain in the vein of Catch Me If You Can and The Thomas Crown Affair, a high-concept action-drama that makes sure to calm any fans of the category. Payne’s criminal life sounds definitely captivating and is apparently a best principle for a movie adjustment:
“In her six-decade long career, Payne, who is now 87, would enter jewelry stores posing as a well-to-do woman looking for a diamond ring and ask to see an assortment of items. Using her charm, she would eventually cause the clerk to forget how many pieces were outside the cases and leave with one or two pieces… Payne’s criminal record dates back to the 1950s. She was arrested many times and has admitted to having used 20 aliases, 10 Social Security numbers, and nine dates of birth.”
Thompson required to her Twitter account to reveal her enjoyment with the task:
After chasing after Doris and her story for many years– and after that keeping this trick for some time– I’m shrieking that this dream is becoming a reality. She is a deeply remarkable female. Delighted to bring this story to the screen with CodeBlack & Lionsgate. Beyond grateful. https://t.co/GMfigAdwy4
